Kochi: Producer Vijay Babu’s anticipatory bail has been postponed to Tuesday following a rape complaint filed by the actress. The ban on the arrest of Vijay Babu will continue. The court directed that Vijay Babu should not try to contact the complainant or influence them and should fully co-operate with the investigation. The prosecution also told the court that Vijay Babu had appeared before the investigating officer and further questioning was required. The court adjourned the case till Tuesday.
Vijay Babu returned to Kochi yesterday after 39 days in hiding. He was appearing before the investigating officer after visiting the temple after landing. The probe team questioned Vijay Babu for nine and a half hours. Vijay Babu is still questioning the actress’ complaints. Vijay Babu has denied the actress’ complaint that he was injured. Vijay Babu was questioned for nine hours yesterday. Vijay Babu alleges that the case was about consensual sex and that the reason for the case was resentment over not being given a chance in the film.
Vijay Babu returned a month later after the court granted him interim anticipatory bail. Vijay Babu first went to the temple from the airport. Vijay Babu visited the Datta Ajnaneya Temple in Aluva. He was then produced at the Ernakulam Town South police station. Vijay Babu says the case is fabricated. Vijay Babu told the police that he had consensual sex with the complainant. The reason behind the case is the resentment at not being given a chance in the film. Vijay Babu told the police that no one helped him to go into hiding.
Kochi Police Commissioner H Nagaraju said that Vijay Babu returned after the police took strict action including cancellation of his passport and the aim of the police was to ensure justice for the complainant. The commissioner said that there were people who helped Vijay Babu to go into hiding and they would be found.

At the same time, Vijay Babu told the media that he would co-operate with the investigation and had full confidence in the court. Vijay Babu said that the truth will be proved and he will not respond further as the case is pending in the court. Vijay Babu was released after initial questioning as he was directed not to be arrested. The court has stayed the arrest of Vijay Babu till the next hearing of the case.

The actress was allegedly molested on March 16 at De Holmes Suites apartment and on March 22 at the Olive Downtown Hotel. Vijay Babu entered Dubai after the police registered a case in the incident. From there we went to Georgia. He would later return to Dubai. Vijay Babu has also produced copies of WhatsApp chats with the actress in court. He had sexual intercourse with the complainant by mutual consent. According to Vijay Babu, he had paid the complainant several times and came to the scene with a rape complaint after he refused the demand for more opportunities in the film.
