Rajkot: Maharashtra captain Ruturaj Gaikwad retires after dream form at Vijay Hazare Trophy Maharashtra won the toss and elected to bat. In Group D, Manan Vohra’s century helped Maharashtra reach the target by five wickets in 48.5 overs against Chandigarh, who scored 310 runs. Ruthuraj Gaekwad scored 168 off 132 balls. Ruthuraj’s innings consisted of 12 fours and six sixes.
Earlier, he scored 136 against Madhya Pradesh. He scored 154 against Chhattisgarh and 124 against Kerala. Ruthuraj also set another rare record with a century against Chandigarh. Ruthuraj became the fourth batsman to score the most centuries in a tournament in Vijay Hazare’s.
Ruthuraj also holds the record of four centuries each by Indian captain Virat Kohli, Prithviraj Shah and Devdutt Padikkal. During the 2009-2010 season, Kohli scored four centuries in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The achievement of Prithviraj Shah and Devdutt Padikkal was in the 2020-2021 season.
Ruthuraj is the leading run-getter with 603 runs from five matches in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Manan Vohra, who has scored 379 runs in five matches, and Venkatesh Iyer, who has scored 349 runs in five matches, are third.
Vijay Hazare’s run chase is expected to lead Ruturaj to the Indian team for the ODI series against South Africa. Earlier, Ruthuraj made his debut for India in the T20I. Ruth Raj also bagged the orange cap for the run chaser in the last IPL season.
