Rajkot> Vijay Hazare Cricket Tournament Kerala beat Maharashtra by a huge margin. Vishnu Vinod’s century surpassed their opponents’ target of 292 to give Kerala their second win of the tournament. Vishnu scored a century off 82 balls while Sijo Mon Joseph scored a half century. Sijomon’s half-century was also decisive, scoring 71 off 70 balls.

Kerala Fielding won the toss and elected to field. Maharashtra scored 291 for eight in the allotted 50 overs. Captain Rituraj Gaekwad’s smashing century (124 off 129 balls) gave Maharashtra the lead. This is Gaikwad’s third century in the tournament. Rahul Tripathi scored 99 off 108 balls for Maharashtra. Kerala conceded 49 runs in 10 overs

In reply, Kerala started with a slump in batting. Kerala lost four frontline wickets for 35 runs. Later, Captain Sanju Samsani’s 42 (35) and Jalaj Saxena 44 (54) helped Kerala. With both out, the match seemed to be abandoned by Kerala. But Vishnu and Sijomon reached the crease and brought Kerala to the shores of victory. The duo put on 174 for the eighth wicket off 141 balls. It was Maharashtra’s first defeat in the group.
