Ajith-Vijay films like Thadavim and Warisum are releasing as Pongal specials and are creating buzz. The theaters look like a festival with housepool shows and fans celebrating. Vanmati – Coimbatore Malpillai
It was in 1996 that Ajith-Vijay films were released together for the first time. Ajith’s Vanmati and Vijay’s Coimbatore Mappillai released. Out of these two films which were released as Pongal special films, Vanmati ran for 175 days in theatres. Coimbatore Maballai was also a hit.
College Gate – Poove is for you
1996 was the most memorable year in Vijay’s film career. Even though Vijay has acted in many films before, this year’s release Poove Unakakka took Vijay to the next level. Incidentally, this is Vijay’s first blockbuster film. Vijay became the favorite hero of women by playing a silent role in this film directed by Vikraman. Ajith’s Kolej Vaasal also released on the same day of this film’s release. Prashant will play the lead role in this film. But the film flopped. Poove Undakhka had a successful run of 250 days in theaters.
Red braid age – respect for love
In 1997, Ajith’s Redtai Jadai Vayasham and Vijay’s Love Love Tribute released on the same day. In this, the film Redtai Jata Vayasu failed. But Love’s Respect became a mega hit. This film increased Vijay’s market many folds. This film surely has a special place among the best romantic films released in Tamil till date.
I gave myself to you – Nilave come
In August 1998, Vijay’s film Nilave Vaa and Ajith’s film Unnadidam Mini Dikden were released. Ajith will play the lead role in this film. Karthik is the hero actor. Vikraman-directed Unnaditam Kheedhen Patti Tanki Kall was a hit. But the moon is about the same type.
Untethedi – The mind that does not bounce also bounces
In 1999, Ajith’s Unnethedi and Vijay’s Thullatha Manamum Thullum were released in a week. Even though Unnethedi was a hit, Thullada Manamum Thullum was celebrated by the youth of the day. Director Eghil first tried to cast Vadivelu as the hero in this film. But due to some reasons the film went to Vijay.
Give me I will give you – Khushi
The year 2000 saw the release of Khushi and Unnek Kodu Mein Dharavan. In this, Khushi again became a blockbuster for Vijay. But I will give you to you failed.
Dina – Friends
Although Ajith’s films continued to flop, Deena, released in 2001, made headlines. It was after this film that Ajith got the title of Thala. Vijay’s Friends also released with this film. Both these films were blockbuster hits.

Villain – Bhagwati
In 2002, Ajith’s Villain and Vijay’s Bhagavathy were released. The villain in this film is Black Buster. Bhagwati was a moderate hit.
Anjaneya – Tirumala
This success was followed by the release of Ajith’s Anjaneya and Vijay’s Tirumala together in 2003. In this Tirumala became a hit. Anjaneya was heavily criticized.
Paramasivam – Adi
It was only after 3 years that Vijay-Ajith films were released together. Ajith’s Paramasivam and Vijay’s Aadi were released for Pongal in 2006. In which Paramasivam became a hit for approx. Adi Philo is average.
Alwar – Bogiri
Vijay’s Pokiri and Ajith’s Azhwar were released in 2007. This time even Ajith fans competed and bought tickets for Vijay’s film. It was Bokkiri that elevated Vijay to the next level as a mass hero. Such a super duper hit. But Alvar disappeared without knowing where he came from.
Veeram – District
After that 7 years later Ajith’s Veeram and Vijay’s Zilla released on the same day. Both these films were phenomenal at the box office.
Fortitude – Succession
