Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus Ponniin Selvan is currently gearing up for release. The film stars Vikram as Aditya Karikalan, Karthi as Vandiyathevan, Jayam Ravi as Arunmozhivarman, Trisha as Kundavai and Aishwarya Rai as Nandini.

Produced by Lyca on a budget of Rs 800 crore, AR Raghuman has composed the music. Ravivarman has done the cinematography and Sreekar Prasad has done the editing work. The film has been made in two parts. They are planning to release the first part on September 30.

Vikram, one of the film’s protagonists, was absent from both these events. There is a rumor in the Kollywood circles that Mani Ratnam’s displeasure with him is the reason why he is constantly skipping the film festivals of his Bonnie Selvan.
