The Thalia Award for lifetime championship will be awarded by the Actors’ Association in the field of drama to Štěpánek Ranošová and Viktor Preiss. It was won by Naďa Šormová in the field of opera, Josef Kotěšovský in ballet, dance and movement theater, and Helena Vondráčková for musicals, operettas and other music-dramatic genres.
In the field of alternative theater, Jan Číhal was awarded, who did not live to see the ceremony planned for October 5 at the National Theatre. He died on August 22 of this year. This was stated by the organizers when announcing the nominations for the best theatrical performances.
The Thalia Awards are usually awarded in the categories of drama, opera, operetta, musical or other music-dramatic genre and ballet, pantomime or other dance-dramatic genre. Three men and three women advance to the finals in each of the categories. Since 2020, the organizers have also separately awarded stage performances in the field of alternative and puppet theater, in which five artists have been nominated as a whole.
The organizers will also award Thália for spreading theater art and a prize for a young artist under the age of 33. New this year will be a statuette for the best foreign artist.
The actress Kateřina Císařová, who played Katya in the Resurrection of Leo Nikolayevich Tolstoy at the Theater Na zábradlí, is nominated for a drama. Petra Janečková, who won a nomination in the musical and operetta category last year, is nominated this year for the dramatic role of Alice in the production Pořád jsem to ja from the East Bohemian Theater Pardubice. The third nominated actress is Marie Štípková, who played Tessa Enslerová in Suzie Miller’s At First Sight at the Švanda Theater.
Also in the male category for drama, two actors from the Prague stages were nominated, Miloslav König for the role of Michel Houellebecq in the Na zábradlí Theater and Stanislav Majer for the character of Paul Baumer from the production On the Western Front Calm presented in X10. The third nominee is Jan Kolařík, who impersonated Dež Ursiny in the production Nie sme doma in the Hus in Brno.
In opera, the nominees are Arnheiður Eiríksdóttirová from Iceland, who works at the National Theater in Prague, Soňa Godarská from the JK Tyla Theater in Pilsen, and Tereza Kavecká from the Silesian Theater Opava. Among the men, Peter Berger, Jiří Brückler and Svatopluk Sem were proposed.
Adéla Bendová, Nuria Cazorla García and Klára Jelínková can succeed in the ballet, dance and movement theater category. Among the men, they are Patrik Čermák, Patrik Holeček and Ennio Zappala. Anna Fialová, Slovak native Svetlana Janotová and Markéta Schimmerová Procházková have a chance to win Thália for the musical. From the men, Marek Holý, Pavel Režný or Lukáš Vlček.
Five women are nominated in the Alternative Theater category this year: Martina Hajdyla Lacová, Tereza Hof, Ladislava Jančíková, Iris Kristeková and Tereza Ondrová. In the puppet theater, Marek Bečka, Radek Beran, and Vít Brukner were nominated for a collective acting performance. Also Edita Dohnálková Valášek, Veronika Košvancová Khomová, Barbora Kubátová and Kristýna Matěj Dámová.
The winners will be chosen by professional juries, the presidium of the Actors’ Association will decide on the lifetime championship awards.
