The government is imposing new standards on party hall promoters. The opening and operation of these places of celebration is now regulated in Benin. The decision was taken by the Council of Ministers on November 29, 2023.
The new standards set by the government aim to guarantee the safety of users of the establishments concerned. According to the executive, party halls must have parking spaces sized according to reception capacity and meet the hygiene and health conditions as prescribed by legal provisions on public hygiene.
Promoters must now display the opening and operating authorization at the entrance to the party room. However, a moratorium period of 12 months is granted to holders of non-approved party rooms to update.
The decision follows the government’s observation that the sector is booming but most places of celebration do not comply with construction standards or noise regulations. The conditions for opening and operating party halls reinforce the government’s dynamic to put an end to noise and environmental pollution in Benin.
