According to the available data, former and current members of the councils may have falsified real documents, establishing in them untrue data about incurred expenses unrelated to the activities of the council member, which could not be reimbursed. E. Tamošiūnaitė, while serving as a member of the Vilnius City Municipality Council and possibly abusing her official position, may have caused damage of almost 6,500 euros to the Vilnius City Municipality Administration. Suspicions of abuse have been brought against her, STT reported on Thursday.
According to another investigation, V. Krivickas, while serving as a member of the Marijampole Municipality Council and possibly abusing his official position, may have caused damage of almost 2,300 euros to the Marijampole Municipality Administration. He is accused of fraud, abuse and falsification of documents and possession of them.
Pre-trial investigations conducted by STT regarding possible abuse by members of municipal councils in 2019-2023. during the term of office, they are controlled by the prosecutors of the Organized Crime and Corruption Investigation Departments of the relevant District Prosecutor’s Offices.
The STT is currently conducting pre-trial investigations into the possible improper use of self-government funds by 26 municipalities: the cities of Vilnius, Šiauliai, Panevėžys and Alytus, Utena, Ukmergė, Kretinga, Ignalina, Mažeikių, Šilutė, Jonava, Lazdijai, Pasvali, Prienė, Telšiai, Radviliškii, Joniškii, Tauragė, Zarasai, Akmenė, Kaišiadorii districts and Birštonas, Marijampole, Neringa, Pagėgiai, Druskininkai municipalities.
