Maritime college’s Vinny Fundaro Earns Second Consecutive All-ECAC Honor

A stellar collegiate career continues to garner accolades for Maritime College football’s Vinny Fundaro, as the senior defensive lineman has been named to the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Second Team All-ECAC for the second year in a row.This achievement marks a notable milestone for the Privateers program,wiht Fundaro becoming the first player to receive ECAC recognition in consecutive seasons as Liam Bailey in 2018-19.
The ECAC,founded in 1938 and encompassing over 200 member schools,annually recognizes top student-athletes across Division III,FBS,and FCS levels. Eligibility for All-ECAC honors requires a player to be a first-team all-conference selection or a major award winner within their primary league.
Dominating Performance in the NEWMAC
Fundaro’s consistent excellence was clearly demonstrated throughout his time with the Privateers. A two-time First Team All-NEWMAC selection, he consistently disrupted opposing offenses. In the recently completed season, Fundaro finished second in the New England Women’s & Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) with an extraordinary 13.5 tackles for loss, resulting in a 58-yard loss of field position for opponents. He also ranked second in the NEWMAC with 6.5 sacks and led Maritime with five quarterback hurries.
His impact extended beyond statistics, as evidenced by a crucial forced fumble during the Privateers’ victory against Merchant Marine.

Fundaro’s four-year contribution to the Maritime College football program has left an indelible mark on the record books. He concludes his career with a remarkable 36 tackles for loss, placing him fourth on the program’s all-time list. Furthermore, his 15 career sacks are the third-most in program history, and he ranks fourth all-time with six forced fumbles.
