Some users fear the proliferation of scams and intend to leave the platform.
This is news that annoys second-hand enthusiasts. Since Thursday, the Vinted platform no longer allows payments via Paypal. On its site, the group invites its users “to use one of [ses] other payment methods to pay [leur] order“. They thus have the choice of paying with their bank card, Apple Pay, the Vinted wallet (which is filled thanks to the sales made) or via iDeal in the Netherlands.
Many customers have expressed their incomprehension on social networks: “No more Paypal payment? So no more Vinted at all. Only reliable payment method so now it’s dead“. Same remark for this other Internet user, for whom “the removal of Paypal penalizes buyers but also sellers, because a lot of people don’t want to give their bank details to a platform“. To justify the choice to detach from Paypal, the company specified this Friday to RTL that it “constantly strives to understand what works best for [sa] community in different marketswhere she operates.
Paypal offered certain advantages to its customers, such as payment in three or four installments free of charge or even protection against scams. Users had the possibility to report disputes on the payment platform and to put a payment in brackets until the resolution of the dispute, such as a lost parcel or a non-compliant item. Vinted does, however, offer a “buyer protection», invoiced in addition to the purchase of a product. It thus amounts to 70 centimes, to which are added 5% of the price of the article.
