Viola Davis Halts Production on “G20” Amid Actors’ and Writers’ Strikes

Oscar-winning actor Viola Davis has decided to pause work on her upcoming movie, “G20,” in light of the ongoing actors’ and writers’ strikes. Despite being granted permission by the guild to proceed with the project, Davis believes it is not appropriate to continue production during this time, according to a statement provided to the Los Angeles Times and other news outlets.

“I love this movie, but I do not feel that it would be appropriate for this production to move forward during the strike,” Davis said in the statement.

Hollywood has come to a standstill due to the parallel strikes by writers and actors. However, some productions, particularly those not associated with major studios, have been allowed to continue filming. “G20” is one of the independent projects that have been granted a waiver by SAG-AFTRA. Davis is not only set to star in the movie but is also attached as a producer through her company, JuVee Productions.

“I appreciate that the producers on the project agree with this decision. JuVee Productions and I stand in solidarity with actors, SAG/AFTRA, and the WGA,” Davis added in the statement.

The strikes have caused widespread disruption in the entertainment industry, with many TV shows and films facing delays or shutdowns. However, the unity and support expressed by Davis and others in the industry highlight the importance of standing together during such turbulent times.
