BOLZANO. New safe spaces where women can ask for help or take refuge in an emergency.
This morning (September 25th) the Councillor for Social Policies of the Municipality of Bolzano Juri Andriollo delivered the “red stamp” of safe points for women to Municipal Pharmacy in Via del Ronco in the presence of managers from other locations. An opportunity to formally thank all the city’s Municipal Pharmacies for their participation in the initiative.
“Knowing that there is a safe place, inside the municipal pharmacies where you can ask for help in a discreet and timely manner – said Andriollo – is a concrete gesture of closeness and support for all those women who suffer any form of violence. We want to provide a concrete contribution to safety and at the same time create a community that is attentive, sensitive and active in preventing and combating violence against women”.
The Municipal Pharmacies also participated in the specific training held by the operators of the GEA Anti-Violence Center, thus demonstrating that they offer a valuable contribution to the protection and support network for women. The director of the Local Community Services Department of the Municipality of Bolzano Carlo Alberto Librera also participated in the delivery of the red stamp.
The safe spots for women are part of the project “City community network against gender violence. The initiative is funded by the Ministry of Equal Opportunities and managed by the Municipality of Bolzano, Azienda Servizi Sociali (ASSB), La Strada-Der Weg, Centro antiviolenza GEA and Alloggi Protetti.
Thanks also to the support of Confesercenti and Unione Commercio have been identified overall 35 public and private establishments who are committed to creating places where women, finding themselves in difficulty or in dangerous situations, can enter and find a protected environment.
The participating traders have participated in a specific training with the operators of the GEA anti-violence center on the topic of violence against women in order to recognize dangerous situations and act promptly in providing assistance. The participating facilities display a sticker indicating that it is a “Safe Point”, easily recognizable by all women.
