Dwight Dyer Leal, Director General of Government, Public Safety and Justice Statistics, explained that the amount of crime is influenced by various factors.
“The cost varies depending on the type of crime. An example: in the case of fraud, what type of fraud, the victim and the region in which it occurs; it is not the same if it happens in an urban area as in a rural area,” said the federal official.
“Preventive measures represented an estimated expenditure for households of 25.1 percent of the income”, adds the survey.
