As Club Atletico Independiente youngsters and Defensa y justicia faced each other on Saturday, the game was marred by new tensions that arose after the final whistle.

While Independiente and Defensa y Justicia were fighting five minutes from the end of the match (1-1), the first scuffles took place on the pitch of Villa Dominico. The conflict between the young players was quickly resolved. But it is from the field that the situation has deteriorated.

After coming to encourage the young footballers, some relatives were allegedly attacked. As the match was broadcast on YouTube, the camera only filmed the pitch, but commentators in Argentina described the chaos.

“There is barbaric disorder outside, and tensions are escalating. Police and security are being asked to intervene to separate those involved,” they detailed, in comments reported TyC Sportsbefore adding: “It’s unbelievable how the adults get hotter than the players, it’s the children trying to calm down the elders. The conflict turned into a huge confrontation, with a large number of people in question.”

Both clubs responded

Locals Independiente spoke first, confirming that the meeting had been stopped. But that’s not all, the Argentine club also accuses its opposition supporters of stealing and assaulting.

“The accompanying members of the visiting team attacked the families of our players, some parents were injured and robbed,” announced Club Atletico Independiente. “The club’s lawyers will be with people who have been assaulted, injured and robbed.”

Less than two hours later, the Defensa y Justicia club defended itself. “We regret what happened today at Villa Domínico. But we cannot accept being in a state of disrepair. Far from the spirit of sport that prevails, it is the lack of respect by the spectators of both parties that must be insulted,” he said.

So two different versions, but the two Argentinian clubs are clear that “necessary measures must be taken to ensure that these events do not happen again”.
