The seven-year-old boy who was attacked by the robot has been identified as Christopher. He is one of the 30 talented chess champions in the boys category in Moscow. Following the incident, he suffered a fractured and scratched finger.
Mr Smackin added that the seven-year-old boy had breached safety protocols and tried to move his chess piece when it was the robot’s turn to play. This has never happened before, he said. He said the boy was not seriously injured and later continued to play, attended the award ceremony and signed papers.
Meanwhile, the child’s parents have decided to file a lawsuit in a Moscow court. But officials said the federation, which conducts chess tournaments, would try to fix the problem and do whatever it could to help.
