Mumbai: Virat Kohli will not play in the ODI series of the Team India tour of South Africa (India Tour of South Africa 2021-22). Kohli’s explanation is that he is leaving to spend time with his family. It is reported that Kohli has informed the BCCI about this. This is Team India’s first series since removing Kohli from the ODI captaincy.

It is unclear whether Kohli’s resignation has anything to do with the captaincy controversy. Earlier, it was rumored that Kohli was not happy with Rohit’s ODI captaincy. But neither of the players has made a clear response in this regard.

Rohit is not in the Test

The BCCI has announced that vice-captain Rohit Sharma will not play in the Test series against South Africa. Rohit Sharma injured his right thigh while training in the Nets in Mumbai on Sunday. The selectors have included Priyank Panchal as Rohit’s replacement in the Test series.

The BCCI has selected Rohit Sharma to replace Virat Kohli in the ODIs and replace Ajinkya Rahane as the vice-captain in the Test series. However, the BCCI has not made it clear who will be the vice-captain in case Rohit is ruled out of the Test series. It is not clear whether Kohli will be a replacement in the ODI series.
