FOOTBALL - Joke avoided at the end for about 600 Juventus fans in the stands of the “Benelli”. Il Picchio, with ten men for red against Tavcar, brings it back with a penalty from “Joker” after Cannavò’s red and white advantage. A cold shower for the former Stellone

Apart from the long-awaited return to victory, it seemed that everything was ready to return against Ascoli on the pitch of Vis Pesaro. Then, in extremis, a penalty converted by Corazza in long injury time granted by the referee De Angeli allows Di Carlo’s men to take a point from “Benelli” with the fourth consecutive 1-1 draw after those achieved in against Campobasso, Arezzo and Pontedera.
After a lively first half, where both teams hit the post at either end, it was Cannavò – taking advantage of another inattention from the Juventus rearguard – who broke the deadlock in the 64th minute. To equalize it, in addition to changing to an offensive 4-2-4, Picchio does little or nothing, but coming close to Tavcar on the development of a set shot. Then when Tavcar himself (who can certainly be reviewed, to put it mildly, returns as a starter two years after the last time) just before the 90th minute it seems that little can do. It is the naivety of Stellone’s post-defence with an avoidable foul in the penalty area by Zoia on Tirelli that gave Ascoli the golden opportunity, which “Joker” could not miss.
A joke was avoided for about 600 Juventus fans who came to the “Benelli”. It is clear that we cannot be satisfied at the end of a game that once again confirms the technical and character gaps in the squad that the club built during the summer. However, at this point in the championship and, above all, looking at the reality, we can only try to look at the (few) positive sides. The way out of the crisis remains a long way off,
