Visa Hits Record $46 Billion Annual Revenue as Volumes Climb

Visa reported a 13 percent increase in fourth-quarter net revenue to $12.1 billion on October 27, 2026, closing a fiscal year with record revenue of $46 billion. Chief Executive Ryan McInerney cited the performance as the strongest net revenue growth in over 15 years, excluding post-pandemic recoveries and acquisitions.

The payments giant posted adjusted earnings of $3.48 per share for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, topping Wall Street consensus expectations. Total payment volumes across the network rose nine percent in constant dollars compared to the same period a year earlier, while processed transactions climbed ten percent. Cross-border volume demonstrated particular strength, accelerating 14 percent on a constant-dollar basis.

International Travel Drives Cross-Border Growth

International travel demand and e-commerce expansion underpinned the cross-border figures. Management pointed to improvements in Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa for inbound and outbound travel, alongside elevated United States inbound traffic surrounding the World Cup.

Despite the momentum in travel and online trade, international transaction revenue grew more slowly than overall cross-border volume in eight of the past nine quarters, recording an eight percent increase in reported dollars for the final quarter. The gap stems from currency conversion activities and currency volatility.

Client Incentives Climb Ahead of Renewals

Operating expenses and client incentives drew scrutiny from analysts following the earnings release. Client incentives jumped 21 percent to $5.1 billion during the quarter. Roughly 25 percent of Visa’s payments volume is up for contract renewal in 2027, an increase from 20% in fiscal 2026, which implies an ongoing increase in incentive growth.

Incentives are a tool… it does ensure that we’re securing these client relationships over the long period and is a key ingredient to our long-term growth.

Looking to the 2027 fiscal year, Visa expects net revenue to grow at a low-double-digit percentage rate. Adjusted earnings per share are forecast to rise in the low double digits to low teens.
