RIYADH: The General Directorate of Passports (Jawasat) has announced that the visa can be extended seven days before the expiry of the visit visa subject to the condition of having valid medical insurance.

A visit visa for individuals can be extended up to seven days prior to expiry through the host’s account on the Absure platform. The condition is that the visitor must have medical insurance as per the specific conditions of the service to complete the procedure. The Passport (Jawazat) Department has suggested that the visit visa should not exceed 180 days in total. At the same time, Javazat also stated that a fine will be imposed for renewing the visa after three days from the expiry of the visitor visa.

Jawazat had earlier confirmed that conversion of visitor visa to residential visa is not possible. Javazat also said that if a host has traffic violations on his record, those on his record will not be barred from renewing visitor visas through the Abshar platform.
