Catfish. More than 27,000 visitors over nine days at this year’s summer conference of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Wels in German and Croatian/Serbia over three weekends traveled home visibly in good spirits. Also Elmer’s children from Spital am Pyhrn. The single mother of four had a personal summer highlight and then spoke to Franz Michael Zagler about her thoughts:
Anna, 42: “I was impressed by the more than 60 videos and short films that showed the land and wildlife where Jesus lived. The actors managed to perfectly express various life situations and emotions. You could literally read their mind and it was like I was there at the time.”
Deborah, 22: “If you come to the exhibition center and the rangers give you a parking space with a smile, you immediately feel welcome and in good hands. The bag checks carried out (by about 120 volunteers, note) increased my security. This meant I could start the conference stress free and enjoy the program as much as possible.”
Jan, 20: “I was particularly touched by the six music videos and the 18 songs sung together. The large choir of almost 3,000 people present every day was pure goosebumps. The beautiful, positive melodies and lyrics created a good atmosphere and everyone was in a great mood.”
Michael, 18: “I’m looking forward to the annual summer conference. For three days I meet friends from Upper Austria and Bavaria whom I have not seen in person for a long time. The nice thing is that I can meet new friends and make many contacts every time. Friends in real life are a completely different thing than many contacts on social networks.”
Luke, 14: “Two things excited me: the great multimedia program. The good news, ie the good news from Jesus with real hope for the future, gave me courage that things will get better in our life again and that I will be able to achieve all my dreams. And secondly, I liked the modern exhibition hall 21 with a height of about 10 m and the pleasant indoor climate. It was never stuffy, not even on a Saturday afternoon when the temperature outside was very hot. The good air quality helped me stay focused and take notes.”
