(ANSA) – ANCONA, 05 SEPTEMBER – “The closure of the Marche Nord Hospital, recognized as an excellent institution, the very serious delay in the company act, essential for the planning of health services and a series of failures are dismantling the health organization in our Region, especially in the province of Pesaro-Urbino”.
This was declared by the Democratic regional councilor, Micaela Vitri, who explains: “During the discussion of the reform and the social health plan in the Chamber I had highlighted that the actions of the Acquaroli Council did not keep any of the promises flaunted, but rather undermined the foundations of a system, which was certainly not perfect, but needed to be strengthened and not dismantled”.
The Democratic councilor recalls that “The Marche Nord company and the new hospital were used to reduce mobility towards Romagna and offer ideal working conditions to the best professionals. Now, instead, as if the shortage of doctors were not enough, we are witnessing an exodus”. And she asks: “What will the company act provide for? For example, will the Surgery or Gynecology departments in the Pesaro and Fano hospitals have a single head physician or two as should be the case according to the current plan?”.
“We are still groping in the dark – Vitri underlines – and it is obvious that doctors are looking for workplaces with certainties and adequate conditions. In fact, the real issues of our health system remain unresolved: long waiting lists, recourse to cooperatives with exorbitant compensation, weakening of territorial medicine services from medical emergency stations to community hospitals, passive mobility towards other regions”.
“In fact – recalls the Democratic councilor – the recently published Gimbe report claims that from 2021 to 2022 the performance of prevention, hospital and district networks fell by 14.7%. None of the promises made during the electoral campaign in the 2020 regional elections were kept, especially – she declares – on the reopening of the facilities in the internal areas because the only one to be valued was the Pergola Hospital to the detriment of all the others”.
“Even the new Pesaro Hospital, which should be a center of excellence capable of attracting the best professionals and stopping the hemorrhage of patients to private institutions or other Regions – he also underlines -, will have 220 fewer places than the initial project. Today we learn that three more heads of our AST could leave: Patriti, director of the Ast Surgery department, Rocchi, head of the simple departmental surgery structure of Fano and Sara Mazo, director of the complex operating unit of acceptance and emergency medicine and surgery of the Urbino Hospital”.
“Consequence – concludes Vitri – of the wicked choices made by the Acquaroli Council, which after four years of Government still passes the responsibilities to those who were there before without taking any initiative to resolve the problems of healthcare personnel and patients, but rather worsening the situation to the point of abyss”.
