After entering the field of folding devices last year, the manufacturer Vivo announced the X Flip, its first foldable device in a compact clamshell configuration, and also introduced the second generation X Fold.
It is very similar externally to the familiar Galaxy Z Flip, with a 3-inch external screen that displays various notifications, and an internal screen that opens to 6.74 inches, with a 2520X1080 OLED resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate. Vivo claims that the folding axis of the device will survive no less than half a million folds without failure.
The camera setup of the X Flip includes a main camera with a resolution of 50 megapixels (IMX866V) with image stabilization (OIS), a camera with a wide lens and a 12 megapixel sensor, and a selfie camera with a 32 megapixel sensor. All three cameras carry the Zeiss logo as evidence of the quality of the lenses.
The specifications include the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset from last year with 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of storage. The operating system is Android 13 of course, with the OriginOS 3 interface in the Chinese version. More in the specifications: a pair of stereo speakers and a fingerprint scanner on the side of the device and a 4,400 mAh battery with 44 watt charging. The color palette includes a standard looking black, but also purple and gold.
Prices in China are $872 for the edition with 256 gigabytes of memory, and $974 for the upgraded version with 512 gigabytes of memory. At the moment, Vivo is not yet ready to detail its plans for a global launch for this device, assuming there are any.
You Vivo X Fold 2 Introduced by the company a little less than a year after its predecessor. It opens like a book similar to the Galaxy Z Fold and is equipped with a 6.53-inch OLED screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate. When it’s open, the screen is 8.03 inches of LTPO OLED type with a 4:3 aspect ratio. The screen has a refresh rate of 120 Hz with a 2K resolution and a maximum brightness of 1,800 nits.
Inside is a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor with up to 12 GB LPDDR5X working memory. The cameras on the back include a 50-megapixel sensor with OIS image stabilization, a 12-megapixel camera with a wide lens and another one with a telephoto lens. The battery has a capacity of 4,800 mAh with 120 watt fast charging and another 50 watt wireless charging.
Prices start in China at $1,300 for the 256 GB version and up to $1,500 for the 512 GB version.
