We saw it in the last edition of the CES, in Las Vegas, and now it arrives in Spain. As usual in this Asian brand, cousin of others such as Oppo, OnePlus or Realme (all of them from the Chinese manufacturer BBK Electronics), the new Vivo V23 5G offers very high specifications at really competitive prices. It is what Vivo calls the ‘Benfen Philosophy’, which says that things have to be done on time and in the right way and that has given very good results in Spain, where the brand already occupies the fifth position in sales.

And this time it was not going to be less. But before dwelling on its powers, it is worth highlighting the fact that, on its back, Vivo has used fluorite glass in its new model, which makes the phones (only the gold-colored ones, Sunshine Gold) change color from blue to green when exposed to sunlight for several minutes.

The intensity and duration of this color change depends on how long the terminal has been exposed to solar UV radiation. A very striking detail, of course.

Not in vain, the V family, aimed at especially active people, focuses on two aspects: the design and the camera, which we will talk about later. In the black model, Stardust Black, the fluorite crystal causes bright spots to appear on the back, imitating stars in the sky. It should be noted that, depending on the color, the weight and thickness vary slightly: 181 g and 7.5 mm for the gold model and 179 g and 7.39 mm for the black one.

The screen, 6.44 inches, it is AMOLED Full HD + (2,400 x 1080 pixels) and comes with a refresh rate of 90 HZ. At the top, we find a ‘notch’ or eyebrow larger than usual, something that is justified by the presence of a double front camera, one of the distinctive features of the terminal.

Power for selfies

On the back, we find a triple camera: the main one is 64 megapixels with Quad Pixel, a technology that combines 4 pixels into a larger one and therefore capable of collecting more light. Something that, according to Vivo, is especially noticeable in the ‘Super Night’ mode, which thanks to the support of Artificial Intelligence is capable of obtaining bright and colorful photos even in the worst lighting conditions. The main one is accompanied by a super wide angle of 8 Mp and 120 degrees of opening and a Macro of 2 megapixels. A configuration, then, nothing special.

It is clear that in this terminal Vivo has preferred to press the accelerator on the front camera, which is dual, with a 50-megapixel main sensor and a wide angle of 8, with AI for the improvement of portraits and night images and an opening of 105 degrees. The main front camera can record videos in 4K quality, with HDR and Dual View system, which allows you to divide the screen to show what several cameras capture at the same time.

The chosen processor is a Mediatek Dimensity 920, supported by 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage space. It is possible to use 4 GB of ROM memory to convert it into 4 GB of added virtual RAM, thus increasing up to 16 GB of RAM.

The battery is 4,200 milliamps and comes with a fast charge of 44 W that allows, in 30 minutes, to charge up to 68% of the battery. For a 100% charge, you will have to wait an hour.

The new Vivo V23 5G will be available from April 1 at a price of 499 euros.
