In violation of all this, the lorries that came with rocks were stopped. People were recruited for this through the church. Earlier, the state government had accepted the six demands raised by the protesters. Orders were also issued. The government has made it clear that the construction of the 7th necessary port cannot be stopped. An expert committee was also formed to conduct a study to find out whether port construction is the cause of coastal erosion.

The Adani Port authorities decided to lay the stone on Saturday after getting the High Court’s directive and the government’s permission. The strike committee intended to prevent it and cause casualties by pelting stones and violence.
The police report that the violence was aimed at rioting. Port construction has not been going on for three months. Local residents are furious. Vicar General Eugene Perera, who heads the strike committee, is well aware of this situation. At every stage, the government tried to prevent the peaceful atmosphere from breaking down. However, the strike committee was not ready to understand the government’s approach or stand by it.
