VK is launching an updated program to protect users and their data – VK Protect, the press service of the company said. It will integrate existing protection programs within the company’s ecosystem.

According to the press service, the main task of the updated program is to unite all the technical solutions that were previously adopted by the company to protect users. The innovations will help to more effectively manage privacy and apply tools to protect personal information. VK has also expanded the use of two-factor authentication, which will now be required for all community administrators with more than 10,000 subscribers. At the moment, there are 140,000 such societies on the platform. Two-factor authentication is available in all services of the VK ecosystem, where there is authorization through a single account, as well as when logging into third-party partner sites and applications.

Olga Frolova, VK Ecosystem Products Director, emphasized that information security will remain a key priority for the company. “We are constantly fighting phishing and notify our users about any suspicious activity as quickly as possible. We plan to further develop this area – to invest even more resources in it and actively educate users of the Russian Internet, ”added Frolova.

In addition, at the beginning of 2022, a User Security Control Center will appear in the VK ID personal account, where you can connect options to increase account security and learn how to responsibly manage your data. Within the framework of VK Protect, it is also planned to restart the program for payments to security researchers (Bug Bounty) “VKontakte” and VK ID – will be expanded, and the level of remuneration will be increased.
