The Russian social network VKontakte has launched a new recommendation feed with a focus on the visual component. The endless feed will include photos, videos, clips, posts and content collections.
The feed was developed on the basis of a machine learning algorithm that determines the subject and relevance of content, its relevance and visual appeal. The new feed is also designed to acquaint users with new authors, formats and topics. It is unique for each user and is constantly updated. Thanks to likes, reposts, subscriptions and other factors, the accuracy of recommendations increases, and the feed automatically adjusts to a specific user.
By opening any publication, the user sees a thematic selection of similar posts in different formats, including music, polls, texts and articles. In August 2022, VKontakte has already updated the design of the feed with an emphasis on brightness and fascination, as well as minimalism and simplification of the interface. You can also hide the authorship of likes in the new feed.
