On December 6, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the government to ensure constant control over the formation of car prices “to prevent their unreasonable increase.” This is stated in the list of instructions on the President’s website following a meeting with government members.

The head of state also instructed to take measures to increase the availability of cars for Russians. It is necessary to determine a target indicator that will characterize the increase in such accessibility in 2023 compared to 2022, follows from the instructions. This indicator should be calculated quarterly. The deadline for the execution of both instructions is April 15, 2023.
