Krasimir Karakachanov is the new chairman of VMRO. This was decided by today’s 9th extraordinary congress of the party. The other candidate for the position was Angel Jambazki.

Karakachanov was elected honorary chairman of VMRO 2 years ago. Before that, he was the leader of the party for 25 years.

With his formal retirement in 2021, again at an extraordinary congress, the party was headed by a triumvirate in the person of MEPs Angel Djambazki, Alexander Sidi and Iskren Veselenov.

Now, Milen Mihov, Krasimir Bogdanov, Carlos Contrera join the new management of VMRO as vice-presidents. The organizational secretary for work with the structures will be Alexander Sidi, the secretary for policies for Bulgarians abroad – Julian Angelov, and members of the party’s governing body – Angel Jambazki, Ivo Pazardzhiev, Georgi Drakaliev, Anton Ivanov, Krasimir Chervilov, Bogomil Brankov, Stoyan Bozhinov, Petar Petrov, Georgi Petrov, Atanas Stoyanov, Vladimir Mitov.

“In this composition of the National Executive Committee of VMRO – BND, there is a balance between people experienced in politics and young and energetic members of the Organization”, say VMRO.

“The election of one chairman came about after a change in the party’s statutes, in which until now it was written that it was governed by three co-chairmen. Today, Angel Jambazki was nominated as a candidate for chairman, but most delegates at the congress voted for Krasimir Karakachanov.

The VMRO Congress made a request that it will continue to defend the principles of authentic Bulgarian nationalism and will fight for the rights of every single Bulgarian, wherever they are in the world,” the party adds.
