Vogue World will stage its 2027 global fashion showcase in San Francisco during the early fall, bringing Condé Nast’s immersive runway event to the West Coast following previous productions in New York, London, Paris, and Los Angeles.
Condé Nast is bringing its high-profile fashion fantasia back to the United States. Following tours through global fashion capitals and a Los Angeles production at the historic Paramount lot, the multi-day cultural showcase is heading north to the Golden Gate City in the early fall of 2027.
Anna Wintour and Mayor Daniel Lurie Champion San Francisco’s Creative Economy
Anna Wintour, Condé Nast’s chief content officer and global editorial director of Vogue, praised the municipality’s cultural identity as a city like none other.
“There’s a history of rebelliousness here, as well as incredible innovation. I love that San Francisco has always stood up for its values, and the things it believes in. We think it’s the perfect setting for Vogue World 2027.”
Anna Wintour, Condé Nast’s chief content officer and global editorial director of Vogue
San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie welcomed the selection, framing the upcoming production as a catalyst for local economic recovery following the disruptions of the COVID-19 pandemic. Lurie emphasized that the city’s creative workforce remains central to its revitalization.
“Creativity and free expression have been the engine of San Francisco for generations, and that spirit will be on full display at Vogue World 2027.”
Mayor Daniel Lurie, City of San Francisco
Lurie added that the event will offer another opportunity to show the world that San Francisco is on the rise in a statement.
Navigating San Francisco’s Distinctive Style History
The choice of San Francisco marks a distinct departure from traditional haute couture capitals. Industry observers note that while the region gave rise to era-defining apparel mainstays such as Levi’s, Esprit, and Gap, the area became more widely associated with the tech-focused normcore of the 2010s, including branded outerwear and smart gear.
Recent design crossovers have already begun bridging traditional fashion houses with the Bay Area. Designer Zac Posen recently visited the region, stopping at Gap headquarters for a capsule collection debut on Feb. 13 before attending a separate performance debut for the San Francisco Ballet.
Behind the Financial Scaling of Vogue’s Global Showcase
The 2026 Costume Institute gala raised a record $42 million, fueled by major tech and retail sponsorships.
Corporate table purchases have climbed significantly. Tech and retail giants including Amazon, Meta, OpenAI, and Snapchat each bought tables. Meanwhile, individual ticket prices rose to $100,000 from roughly $75,000 in 2025.
Production Leadership and International Precedents
Juan Costa Paz of Convoy will serve as the creative director for the 2027 production, continuing a role he held across previous iterations including the upcoming Milan showcase.

The Milan production is scheduled for September 22 at the start of Milan Fashion Week, utilizing a theme centered on craftsmanship and human ingenuity in the technological age. The global tour format pairs high fashion with localized arts and performances, tailoring each city’s showcase to highlight regional history.
Economic Stakes for Local Designers and Small Businesses
Lurie emphasized that the production will directly support local designers, musicians, and small business networks while bolstering the broader creative ecosystem as visitor numbers continue to rebound.
