Washington: NASA has warned that volcanic eruptions could have serious repercussions on Earth. The new findings are based on a study of climate regeneration. Researchers have recreated the Columbia River Basalt eruption that occurred between 15 million and 17 million years ago in the Pacific Northwest of the United States.
Intense volcanic eruptions can destroy the ozone layer, which shields us from ultraviolet rays, and significantly warms the Earth’s climate. The researchers said that most of the so – called flood basalt eruptions were caused by the current state of Venus and Mars. Many of these are related to the hottest periods in Earth’s history. This is a series of centuries of volcanic eruptions.
The new findings on climate regeneration are in stark contrast to previous studies. Earlier findings suggested that volcanic eruptions could lower atmospheric temperatures.
