Volkswagen announced on the 4th that sales of vehicle models priced under 40 million won are increasing.

According to the Korea Automobile Importers and Distributors Association (KAIDA), sales of Volkswagen’s ‘Jetta 1.5 TSI’ model from January to August this year were 1,188 units. It more than doubled compared to the same period last year. Last year, annual sales were only 1,300 units.

Jetta is Volkswagen’s premium sedan model. The recommended retail price is 38.1 million won, and even though it is a compact sedan, it has a spacious trunk capacity of 510L. When the second-row seats are folded, 986L of space is secured, allowing you to load carriers, strollers, etc.

In addition, Volkswagen’s hatchback model, the ‘8th generation Golf 2.0 TDI’, has surpassed 50,000 cumulative sales. The recommended retail price for this model is around 39 million won. Advanced safety features such as ‘forward collision warning front assist and emergency braking system’ and ‘multiple collision avoidance brakes’ are installed as standard. LED and fuel efficiency have also been continuously upgraded.

Volkswagen explained, “It is more fuel efficient than hybrid cars with an actual fuel efficiency exceeding the official fuel efficiency of 17.8 km/l,” and “It is a steady seller in its 50th anniversary of launch.”

In addition, regarding the popularity of the two models, he said, “Among the German sedans currently on sale, the Jetta is the only one priced in the 30 million won range,” and “As the recession prolongs, it appears to be gaining popularity with consumers who want to purchase good products at competitive prices.”
