Car enthusiasts probably remember that many such cars were on the road years ago: Renault Megane, Ford Focus, Peugeot 206, Beetle and more. Almost every self-respecting company had at least one convertible.
A quick search in Europe, the continent of convertible car addicts, reveals that today there are a single digit number of cars that can drop the roof at a reasonable price. Mini, Fiat 500, Mazda Miata and that’s it.
For a less reasonable price, of course, you can buy a BMW, Audi, McLaren or Ferrari.
And there is one more car, very different from all of them, its name is Volkswagen T-Roc. And if this name is familiar to you, it is only because it came to Israel not long ago, but with a roof and 5 doors. In Europe, another version of the compact SUV is available. The T-Rock Cabrio is different from any convertible on the shortlist mainly because it’s based on an SUV body rather than an executive car, coupe, mini or anything else low-key.
Although it is not the first crossover to be a convertible, it is the only one currently available on the European market, and this is also likely to be temporary: according to publications in Europe, its production will also end , at the end of 2025, ie and for the first time since the first Cabrio Beetle since 1950, Volkswagen will be left without an open car in the range.
