The range of the new Volkswagen Virtus 2024 arrived with important innovations that greatly differentiate it from its predecessor and from the Polo hatch, as we were used to. Part of its concept was inspired by the VW Santana EX, a sedan from the 1990s.

Another of the most important innovations is the addition of a new level of superior equipment called “Exclusive”, aiming at a luxurious design and a luxurious atmosphere. For the occasion, the Volkswagen Virtus increased its dimensions to 4.56 meters in length.

The wheelbase and trunk capacity remain the same, at 2.65 meters and 571 liters, respectively. Biscay Blue body color is available for the first time, with four other options available: Crystal White, Platinum Grey, Ninja Black and Sirius Silver.

Volkswagen Virtus: presented in China with new features

While we await the arrival of its renewal, the Volkswagen Virtus has a new twin. The sedan, which arrives in our country from Brazil, presented in China under the name of VW Lavida XR, a model manufactured in the “Asian Giant” by the local company SAIC.

The Lavida is a Volkswagen Virtus, but made for the Chinese market, pure and simple. Aesthetically, it is almost identical to the update that the sedan presented in Brazil last March. Differences can be found in the grille (with honeycomb pattern). In the air intake located in the bumper (same grille pattern, but with chrome details), in the 16” wheels (with a different design) and in the color palette offered (with an emphasis on turquoise).

Therefore, the interior of the Lavida is very similar to that of the facelift Volkswagen Virtus. Highlights are the 8″ digital instrument panel and the 8″ touchscreen for the multimedia system. It is upholstered with turquoise, blue and gray accents.

However, from a mechanical point of view, the sedan is equipped with a 1.5 L four-cylinder engine that generates 108 hp and 141 Nm of torque. Power transmitted to the front axle via a six-speed automatic gearbox.

Built on the MQB A0-IN platform, the Lavida XR has a length of 4561 mm and a wheelbase of 2651 mm. Its trunk capacity is 498 liters, slightly less than the 521 liters of the Virtus.
