Demi Vollering won stage 7 of the Tour de France Femmes, 89.8 kilometers between Lannemezan and the high end of the Col du Tourmalet in which she had no rival. The one from SD Worx is now the leader of the race with a wide advantage.

The stage started at a high pace that allowed almost no breaks. The different attempts did not last long, since everything led to the acceleration of Movistar in the Aspin. In said port, once Paula Patiño finished her work, Van Vleuten launched his offensive.

The defending champion’s rush was only resisted by Vollering and Niewiadoma. The trio made their way without incident, until they crowned and the Canyon woman went solo, taking advantage of the suspicion between the two favourites, who did not stop arguing.

Thus they arrived at Tourmalet, where a pursuing group with Kopecky or Reusser joined the pursuit. Kasia never looked back and new stops allowed her to open an interesting gap, while behind her back only Labous was trying something.

Only 5,500 meters from the top did Vollering take courage, whose action dropped Van Vleuten. Not only that, but he came and went past Niewiadoma, heading alone to victory. The Dutchwoman rolled at an almost robotic pace, marking differences that left her one step away from the title.

Kasia was second and Van Vleuten completed the podium at 1:58 and 2:34 respectively.
