There was a victory and a defeat for the volleyball players of SG Aichach-Inchenhofen at the start of the season District League.
The penultimate season, both clubs earned the right to promotion to the district league, but could not manage the promotion alone due to a shortage of staff. So it was decided to merge the two teams under the leadership of the established trainers Roland Wanka and Stefan Böck. Last season there was only a single game day, at that time they lost both games before the season was canceled. Since then, he has kept fit, initially in online training, and now for some time again under almost normal training conditions. However, it was difficult for the coach and team to assess their own level of performance. The team lost – at least for this season – attacker Sandra Heimbuch, who ended up in the Allgäu professionally.
In Friedberg In the first encounter against TSV Friedberg 2, the SG surprised especially coach Roland Wanka. Based on a functioning assumption around Libera Lisa Kölbl, the SG put on an effective attack game in which all attackers contributed counters. The only weak point was the serve, which sailed a little too often out of bounds. But overall, the district rival didn’t stand a chance. (25:20; 25:20; 25:18).
The start did not go well against the hosts of SVS Türkheim. The Aichach-Inchenhofen team barely found their way into the first two rounds. The SG had problems with the hosts’ hard serves, which led to point losses. Türkheim played at a high speed and the SG got the fast, hard attacks of the opposing attackers neither in the block nor in the field defense under control (12:25; 11:25). In addition, his own attack, especially from the back position, no longer worked as in the first match. It was only in the third set that the guests found their way back to their style of play. With an improved assumption, Aichach-Inchenhofen was now able to score more points with its own attack. Coach Wanka’s team kept up until 22:22, but in the end it wasn’t quite enough (22:25). Wanka nevertheless drew a positive balance: “The start against Friedberg was very gratifying and showed us that we can survive in the league.” (Vb)
