Vollmaringen church renovation: 43,000 euros are still missing in donations – Nagold and the surrounding area

With a brilliant concert by the band “Dimpfelmoser” and greetings, the parish of St. Georg in Vollmaringen celebrated the completion of the renovation work on their church.

At first glance, you may wonder what was renovated or refurbished in St. George’s Church – because the main part was upgrading the heating and ventilation system. The nave has not been freshly painted, but the floor has been partially redone.

The technical upgrading was explained during the concert evening by Walter Volz from the building committee. First, he explained that there were still 43,000 euros in donations that the Vollmaringer parish had to raise itself as a contribution. To finance the renovation and maintenance work, the parish of St. Georg received a subsidy from the Diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart amounting to 70 percent of the construction costs.

Nevertheless, the reserves of the parish had to be almost completely used up. But Volz relies on the people of Vollmaringer so that the remaining 43,000 euros can also be raised.

On behalf of the congregation, he also thanked the Protestant fellow citizens for the time in which their rooms could be used during the renovation. “Our church has become home again,” emphasized Walter Volz. The previous hot-air heating system based on heating oil was replaced with heat pumps with heating stations in the church. The hot air blower had adversely affected the organ – and the paintings on the altars had dried out, and some of the paint was even peeling off. This shouldn’t happen again in the future.

Walter Volz named the ventilation as another weak point of the church – the windows could only be opened manually, sometimes they stayed open even in rain and storms. In the meantime, after the renovation, sensors use the outside and inside temperature as well as the humidity to determine whether ventilation is required. The windows are then controlled automatically.

In addition, lighting fixtures were replaced or added to make it easier to read texts. Now it is possible to create different moods in the church – on the evening of the concert, for example, the chancel was bathed in a beautiful, deep pink. In addition, individual works of art can now be illuminated – and moreover, energy is saved.

In addition, the song indicator and the loudspeaker system were renewed. Last but not least, Walter Volz thanked Deacon Bertram Löffler, who had initiated the concert – Bertram Löffler had the idea for the concert evening with the band Dimpfelmoser, in which he also plays.

Father Peter also spoke a word of welcome, he thanked the architect for the very good work. The renovation work began in September 2022 – now it is time to say thank you with a nice concert evening. After the concert there was a drink in the churchyard.
