Volta Redonda was no match for Athletic and is out of the Copa do Brasil. This Tuesday (27), the team from Minas Gerais scored 1-0 in São João del Rei, in the first phase of the national tournament. The classification will yield a quota of R$ 945 thousand to the club.

Midfielder Robert, still in the first half, scored the only goal of the game played at the Joaquim Portugal Stadium. In the second phase, scheduled for March 6th or 13th, Athletic will face CRB. The single match will take place at Rei Pelé Stadium, in Maceió.

Athletic needed to rely on the third goalkeeper. This is because the titular Jefferson was vetoed by the medical department. Reserve Lucas Passarelli was a starter in Tuesday’s match until halfway through the second half, when he was injured and had to leave the field.

Thus, Rodrigo Bazílio, the third goalkeeper, went to the game and had a great contribution to the Minas Gerais classification. After all, he saved a shot from Rikelmo, from Volta Redonda, in the final stretch of the match.

The teams return to the field in their respective State Championships. While Athletic hosts Itabirito on Saturday at 4:30 pm, at the same stadium, in Mineiro, Voltaço faces Nova Iguaçu on Sunday in Carioca at 6:10 pm, at the Raulino de Oliveira Stadium, in Volta Redonda.
