Over 830 thousand ​tons of Kazakh oil have been transported ⁢through the port of Aktau in the⁢ direction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline from January to July 2024, a source at⁢ JSC ​KazTransOil confirmed⁣ to Trend.

According to the​ company, 837⁤ thousand tons of oil were transported through the Aktau port in the ​direction of the BTC pipeline in January-July 2024. In July alone, 136 thousand tons of Kazakh oil were shipped through the pipeline.

KazTransOil also announced plans ⁣to transport ⁤an‍ additional 120 ‌thousand ‍tons of oil through the Aktau port in the‌ direction of the BTC pipeline in‌ August ​2024.

The company expects to transport up to 1.5 million tons of oil through the Aktau port in the ‌direction of the BTC pipeline throughout ‍2024.

In 2023, Kazakhstan transported⁤ 1.392 million‌ tons of ⁣oil⁣ via the BTC pipeline, which ‍is five​ times more than in 2022.

The increase in oil transportation is part of Kazakhstan’s strategy to diversify its energy​ exports and reduce its dependence on Russia.
