The “The Dandelion” initiative in Braunschweig brings people closer together – you can tell whether a café or shop is participating by looking at the dandelion sticker.
The dandelion is intended to help strengthen coexistence in the Braunschweig region. The principle is simple: You go to a participating café, restaurant or shop and buy a product such as an extra coffee – this is then donated to a person in need in the region if they ask for it. Initiator Thomas Spork knows that people who are dependent on state benefits cannot afford a visit to a café that costs around 4 euros.
Prize money:
Thomas Spork would divide the prize money between the 14 participating cafés so far so that more needy and homeless people can treat themselves to a coffee and take part in community life.
