Cardiologist Dr. Diyan Gospodinov showed the first reaction to heart problems

The first training from the program “Heroes of tomorrow – learn and save!” held the Municipality of Burgas on October 17 – World Anesthetist Day.

The program is aimed at children between the ages of 12 and 14 and, like many European countries, aims to cover all students from grade VI in municipal schools. This provides the necessary knowledge and skills to react in critical situations.

The first training was at “Vasil Aprilov” school.

in addition to municipal officials, representatives of the “Young Doctors” Association, youth from the BCH, the Union of Paramedics and medical students at the “Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov” University took part in it.

All of them joined forces to properly impart knowledge to children that could prove to be life-saving. Deputy Mayor Mihail Nenov, municipal councilors and principals of Burgas schools attended and participated in the opening of the campaign.

“This help is life-saving – that’s why the knowledge you will gain is extremely valuable. It’s important to take care of each other and be prepared for any situation,” Nenov said.

“Every day worldwide, thousands lose their lives from sudden cardiac death. In our country, the number of victims reaches 20,000 a year. When the heartbeat stops, we have a few minutes to react – that’s why we need to be prepared,” emphasized the cardiologist Dr. Diyan Gospodinov, deputy director of the cancer center and executive director of “Young Doctors”.

Anesthesiologist Dr. Boris Tablov with over 15 years of experience in renowned hospitals in Germany presented basic techniques of resuscitation. The students’ attention was also drawn to a presentation of

mannequin rescue techniques,

made by cardiologist Dr. Stamen Pishev.
The interactive part of the training appealed the most to the 6th graders because of the opportunity to see and then try to apply some health methods themselves.

Paramedics also assisted with practical skills. The goal is, first of all, to overcome the initial fear of the unusual situation and the need for an adequate reaction, and at the same time to teach the children from an early age about quick and correct actions.

The municipal program will be implemented among all students from the VI grade of Burgas schools.
