Leading the market with sales of 1,089 units
‘Advantages’ that differentiate it from the higher-end models with convenient and safety features

Volvo’s compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) ‘XC40’ recorded cumulative sales of 1,089 units in the first half of 2024 (January to June), taking first place among single premium compact SUV trims. It also proved its high popularity in the market by recording second place among all trims.
Since its first release on the global market in 2017, the XC40 has been evaluated as setting a new standard for compact SUVs. Since 2020, it has been recognized for its solid product quality, beating out competing models by ranking first in sales of premium compact SUVs in Europe for four consecutive years.
The success factors of the XC40 include its competitive price and product quality that are comparable to higher-end models. Despite being an entry-level model, Volvo’s safety technology and premium convenience specifications are applied as standard. It is also equipped with the integrated T-map infotainment system jointly developed by Volvo Korea and T-map Mobility.
The official domestic sales price is 54.3 million won for the top Ultimate trim. This is 22.04 million won cheaper than in the UK and 16.02 million won cheaper than in the US, and is receiving positive reviews from many consumers.
Volvo’s advanced safety features are also applied to the XC40. It includes a safety package based on the latest ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) consisting of radar, camera, and ultrasonic sensors, as well as driver assistance, steering assistance blind spot information system, intersection traffic warning and emergency braking support, rear collision warning and mitigation, and driving assistance with safe distance between vehicles and lane keeping function.
Through the ‘Integrated T Map Infotainment Service’ that integrates T Map, AI platform NUGU, and music platform FLO, it provides advanced safety and personalized mobility experience. With a 5-year digital service package and 15 years of free over-the-air updates (OTA), you can experience a smart car that learns over time.
The vehicle interior is luxurious with drift wood that uses the texture of natural wood and the Swedish Orrefors crystal gear knob. The Harman Kardon sound system provides the cozy feeling of a Swedish home through optimized speakers, and it is also equipped with an air purification system that blocks up to 95% of ultrafine dust (PM 2.5) and pollen.
Volvo Korea sold the XC40 limited edition online twice, and sold out in 3 and 4 minutes respectively, proving its high popularity in the domestic market. Examples include the 25 units of the XC40 Sage Green Edition released in July last year and the 44 units of the XC40 Dark Edition released in April this year.
Volvo Korea plans to continue to maintain its presence in the premium compact SUV market, led by the XC40.
