With significant amendments to the elections and the administration of the Federations, as well as significant improvements – additions to other areas of Sports, the provisions of the Deputy Minister of Sports, Yiannis Vroutsis in the fundraising Bill under consultation of the Ministry of Education, Religion and Sports were posted for consultation.
The most important change is the repeal of the Eugenakis law, which was deemed “unconstitutional” and had caused a lot of reactions when it was voted on the age limits for election to the Federations.
Following the actions of the Deputy Minister of Sports Yannis Vroutsis, the age of 70 as the maximum age limit for election to the statutory bodies of the Sports Federation is abolished. It is also foreseen, the abolition of the provision that to fill the maximum number of terms in named positions on the Board of Directors. of the Sports Federation, a few terms are enough. Now the terms should be full and in any case 12 years have been completed in the term of the president and 8 years in the terms of the vice president, secretary and treasurer.
In detail in article 81 paragraph 7 it is stated that: “Anyone who has completed a total of three (3) full terms or in any case twelve (12) years in this office may not be elected president of the Board of Directors of a sports Federation. Anyone who has been elected to any of these positions two (2) consecutive times for a full term or in any case for eight (8) years may not be elected vice-president, secretary or treasurer of the Board of Directors of a sports federation. A person who has served for two (2) consecutive terms in any of the offices of the previous paragraph, may be re-elected to such a position if a period of two (2) years has elapsed. The regulations herein also apply to sports federations of people with disabilities. Nominations submitted in violation of this are automatically invalid.”
