“Increasingly, fraudsters are using the combined nature of attacks: today it is used for every seventh attempt to withdraw funds from clients,” he said.
According to VTB, social engineering and phishing account for 94% of all fraudulent attacks. At the same time, over the past year, the share of the first method has decreased threefold for threats associated with card transactions, and by a third – for online transfers. However, the share of phishing, on the contrary, increased: 10 times – for cards, four times – for remote channels.
Pechatnikov added that since the beginning of 2021, VTB has repelled more than 850,000 fraudulent attacks, protecting 12 billion rubles. clients – 62% more than in the same period in 2020.
