From the Pink City to Las Ramblas in one hour flight. The low-cost Spanish company Vueling is launching a new line between Toulouse and Barcelona from July 1, noted BFM TV. Something to annoy environmentalists: less than 350 km separate the two cities.
Tickets on sale on the Vueling website range between 22.9 and 79.9 euros one way. Three connections per week are currently displayed. The Spanish company is the only one to offer a direct flight between these two cities.
A direct train buried with the Covid
More ecological, a direct train made it possible to connect the two metropolises in three hours until 2021 – count four hours for a journey by car. This line, opened in 2013, had closed during the health crisis and never reopened. The SNCF and its Spanish equivalent Renfe had deemed the number of travelers insufficient.
But the Occitanie region as well as the two cities are calling for its restoration. “In a context where the fight against climate change is a priority, we are convinced that such a link is essential”, affirmed in March the mayor of Toulouse, Jean-Luc Moudenc, quoted by the noon dispatch.
The fastest train journey today takes nearly four hours and requires a change at Narbonne.
