The trial of Vusal Manafov, who was arrested on drug charges, took place at the Baku Court of Serious Crimes. “Malumat” News Agency reports that witness statements were heard in the proceedings chaired by judge Mahira Karimova.
Tural Gurban oglu Asgarov, who testified as a witness, answered the questions of the judges, the lawyer and the public prosecutor, “I forgot.” Tural, who introduced himself as an operative of the Binagadi police department, said that they caught Vusal Manafov near their house, but another witness who testified as an eyewitness to Vusal’s arrest said that they caught him when he was leaving the mosque.
The contradiction is not only in the statements of two witnesses, but also Tural Asgarov’s initial statement and the statement he gave in the court are completely contradicted.
The witness, helpless in front of the lawyer’s questions, answered even the public prosecutor with the answer “I forgot”. The public prosecutor said, “Operators have a strong memory, why have you forgotten everything?” Witness Tural Asgarov answered, “Yes, we were dressed warmly.”
It should be noted that Vusal Manafov was arrested on April 10, 2023. On the first revival night, the ones who prayed together with Vusal until morning in the Haji Javad mosque in Yasamal and cut bread at a table during the imsak were plainclothes policemen. They caught Vusal, who was leaving the mosque at 5 in the morning.
Vusal Manafov is charged with Article 234.4.3 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
The next court is scheduled for September 10.
