On March 23, Volkswagen celebrates 70 years in Brazil. For the coming years, the brand will invest BRL 7 billion in Latin America. With this financial contribution, the automaker promises to launch 15 vehicles by 2025. In the new package there are flex-fuel and electric models. It is worth remembering that the ID.3, ID.4 and ID.Buzz, which is the electric Kombi, is already being tested on the streets of the country.

As a result of this billionaire contribution, which was established in 2022 in the region, the brand has already launched the Jetta GLi, new Polo, Polo Track, Gol Last Edition, new Polo GTS, new Virtus and Polo Track 1st Edition. It is important to remember that the Volkswagen T-Cross has already been spotted by R7 Autos Carros and should be updated soon for the range of flex models without a hybrid option for the time being.

“Volkswagen do Brasil completes 70 years of technological innovation and pioneering spirit and is of strategic importance to the Volkswagen Group worldwide. Over the decades, Volkswagen has revolutionized its product portfolio – which offer maximum quality, innovation, technology and safety –, modernized its four factories in Brazil, developed new technologies and today is a brand that is much closer to people, innovative, desired, digital and connected”, says the COO of Volkswagen do Brasil, Ciro Possobom.

In addition to launches, Volkswagen promises to be a carbon neutral company by 2050 in the world. Including, the brand was the first vehicle manufacturer to sign the Paris Agreement. Around here, the automaker has already inaugurated the Way to Zero Center department at the Anchieta plant for the development of technologies with low CO2 emissions for vehicles.

Volkswagen do Brasil is also the first vehicle manufacturer in Brazil to use renewable natural gas in the Anchieta and Taubaté production line. In all, there will be more than 50,000 m³ of biogas per day, supplied by Raízen, which are used in the production process of painting the bodies of the brand’s models. With this, it was possible to have a reduction of more than 90% in CO2 emissions compared to the fossil alternative.

70 years in Brazil

Volkswagen is looking to its future in the country on an important date for its history. It is worth remembering that although Volkswagen has already been present in the country since 1950 when imports of the Beetle began, the assembly of the models began in 1953. From that year onwards, VW began construction of the Anchieta factory in São Bernardo do Campo/SP, which it would be ready in 1957 to produce the Kombi and from 1959 the Beetle, both with 50% nationalization.
