In the year in which it celebrates its seventieth anniversary in Brazil, Volkswagen do Brasil presents its Classic Vehicle Certificate.

This document, which highlights the production characteristics of classic models manufactured in the national territory, not only provides original production data, but also serves as an authentic birth certificate issued in the name of the current owner of the classic vehicle. Each certificate has a unique serial number, ensuring traceability and authenticity to avoid possible forgery.

The Classic Vehicle Certificate is issued through the VW Collection for vehicles produced in Brazil for at least 20 years. Volkswagen Germany played a crucial role in this initiative, serving as a reference and highlighting the global interest in locally produced vehicles, which motivated Volkswagen do Brasil to become the second country in the brand to offer this service to customers.

The data for issuing the certificates is extracted from the brand’s extensive production database in Brazil, dating back to the origins of the national operation in the 1950s. Initially recorded on handwritten paper cards until the end of the 1980s, this information was preserved in microfilms, totaling around 6.5 million records. Now digitized for preservation, these documents made it possible to create certificates.

When a customer requests the certificate, a specialized team from Volkswagen do Brasil carries out practically artisanal research into the information on each vehicle. After this step, the certificate is issued and authenticated by the areas responsible for preserving the data, as well as the VW Garage, the Complete Vehicle Development Department and the VWB Press Department.

The first vehicles to receive the VW Certificate in Brazil are the Kombi ‘Corujinha’ 1960, the TL 1972 and the Gol 1300, which are part of the VW Garage collection. The amount raised from the sales of the certificates will financially support the VW Garage in the preservation and restoration of historic vehicles.

The garage VW, composed of two parts, maintains a collection of more than 100 cars, making it the largest collection coordinated by an automaker in Brazil. Part II, recently opened, displays 36 cars in 1,430 m² at the Anchieta factory, mixing well-known models and new units. The collection preservation initiative began more than 20 years ago and continues to highlight unique models, including prototypes and special editions, which contribute to telling the complete story of the brand in the country.
