The Volkswagen Virtus 2023 arrived on the national market with a very different proposal from the New Polo 2023, seeking a more conservative customer profile and therefore, it has a more discreet footprint.
Offered in three engine options (actually two), the Virtus 2023 also serves as a rescue from the past of medium VW sedans in the country, such as Santana, Passat and Jetta.
In the Virtus 2023, the front now features the standard set of headlights and LED fog lights for all versions, as well as a new hood, with a higher profile, expanding the bumper, with a more sophisticated look.
The updated grid receives the new VW logo, while the rear receives LED lanterns with a new signature, invading the trunk lid. The emblem, with the model name, appears centralized. The highlight is the lower part, which receives chrome trim on the Highline version, in addition to new reflectors.
All versions gained renewed wheels, with the top of the line having a diamond design with a 17-inch rim. The special Biscay Blue paint is new, accompanied by Crystal White, Platinum Grey, Ninja Black and Sirius Silver.
Inside, the Volkswagen Virtus 2023 now has a panel with double seam coverings, like the doors. The seats are new, now in leather from the Comfortline version, bringing a Mocca Brown tone to the top of the Highline line.
The Virtus 2023 gains the standard Nivus steering wheel, as well as a gear lever with illuminated pommel, in addition to the 10.1-inch VW Play multimedia, 10.25-inch digital cluster and Climatronic Touch air conditioning. VW’s compact sedan won an induction cell phone charger and two USB-C inputs as standard.
With rear air conditioning output and two other USB-C inputs, the Virtus 2023 maintains good internal space and the 521 liters of the trunk.
On Virtus 2023, the safety package now includes adaptive cruise control and autonomous emergency braking that are standard items on all versions with automatic transmission.
These versions also bring six airbags, automatic maneuver braking, fatigue detector, post-collision braking system, updated electronic differential lock and disc cleaning function.
The Virtus 2023 has five configurations available: 170 TSI with manual or automatic transmission for the entry-level version; the 200 TSI for Comfortline and Highline versions; and the 250 TSI, especially for the new Exclusive version.
All versions optionally gain the Black Package, at dealerships, including exclusive wheels and mirror cover in piano black, rubber mats, spoiler on the tailgate, aluminum pedals, stickers on the sills and key cover.
As in the previous one, the first three revisions are free and VW entered into a partnership with Porto Seguro, in addition to reducing the value of the parts basket. Deliveries start in March.
The 170 TSI version has up to 116 hp and 16.5 kgfm, while the 200 TSI goes up to 128 hp and 20.4 kgfm, leaving the Exclusive with 150 hp and 25.5 kgfm.
The consumption of the Virtus 170 TSI with gasoline is 13.8 km/l (urban) and 16.3 km/l (road), while the automatic makes 12.4 km/l (urban) and 15.6 km/l (road), going from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.5 seconds on ethanol.
