The 31-year-old leader of the Lithuanian team completed two penalty laps (shooting 1+1) in a distance of 7.5 km. Anykštens showed an increasing pace on the track in each lap: in the first he was 21st, in the second – seventh, and in the third – even second.

“Emotions are ambiguous, because expectations are still higher in this summer championship. That seventh place is the middle place, where you can not be sad after the start. Tomorrow will be a new chance, you will have to fight harder. Of course, I’m going through a bit of shooting. And yesterday the shooting was unsecured, today there were those mistakes again. As for my overall well-being and speed on the track, I would say that I don’t feel bad at all, but I expected that the speed should be about that”, commented V. Strolia.

Only one of the 72 athletes managed to finish the sprint competition without penalty laps – that was done by Poland’s Wojciech Skorusa, who took 4th place. The conditions for the biathletes were made difficult by the changing wind.

“It was a bit windy today, that wind is so erratic, from all directions. But anyway, it seems to me that there are always more fines in the summer than in the winter, because the distances are shorter, everyone is in a hurry, the competition is after such a break, it all adds up and that’s how the fines are a little more,” thought V. Strolia.

Czech Jakub Štvrtecky became the champion, 12.4 seconds. surpassing the French Emilien Claude and 1.6 seconds. – Belgian Thierry Langer. All three prize winners completed one penalty lap each. V. Strolia lost 47.4 seconds to the winner.

Five more Lithuanian representatives took part in the match: Maksimas Fominas took 22nd place (2+1), Jokūbas Mackinė – 50th (1+3), Tomas Kaukėnas – 54th (3+2), Nikita Čigak – 63rd (4 +3), and Stepan Terentyev – in the 67th (4+2).

V. Strolia and M. Fominas won the right to participate in Sunday’s “Gala” joint start race, where V. Strolia won a bronze medal last year.

In the women’s 6 km sprint, Judita Traubaitė completed three penalty laps (1+2) and was 28th. By the way, the Lithuanian started the competition with the first starting number.

“Didn’t the extra attention bother you?” Maybe I thought about it the most when I saw the start protocols. When it was time to start, I wasn’t thinking at all. Of course, it felt like no one started before me, and that minute of waiting for the start with all the audio, but it was really fun. I tried not to think about cameras or attention,” J. Traubaitė smiled.

Tereza Vobornikova won the title of world champion, just 0.1 seconds. beating Lotte Lie representing Belgium. Slovakian Paulina Batovska-Fialkova was 13.5 seconds behind. and decorated with bronze.

Lidija Žurauskaitė took 47th place (2+2), Sara Urumova – 52nd (1+0), and Natalija Kochergina – 57th (2+3) in the sprint. Only J. Traubaitei managed to get to the “Gala” joint start event, in which the 30 biathletes who performed best in this championship will participate.

“Riding pace has really lived up to expectations in this championship, and shooting could have been better based on how it went in practice.” I had no idea if there was a chance to get into the joint start, because I didn’t know how many participants there would be, who would come, but I would have had doubts about entering before the championship,” said J. Traubaitė.

Viktorija Augulytė (34th place) and Mikas Vildžiūnas (41st place) were the most successful Lithuanians in the youth sprint.
