WAC coach Garrido: Morocco adopted important measures before the spread of coronavirus
Madrid – Wydad Casablanca coach Juan Carlos Garrido of Spain has stressed that Morocco has taken the lead from the beginning by adopting measures well before the coronavirus spread in the country.
“The advantage for Morocco is that it took measures well before the Coronavirus spread in the country. Therefore, the incidence compared to Spain is minimal,” Garrido said in an interview with the Spanish news agency “Efe”.
The former Villareal coach, who chose to spend his confinement in Morocco to be close to his players, described as “excellent” the decision of the Moroccan authorities to impose the wearing of masks, expressing the hope that the measures taken by the Kingdom will lead to stopping the spread of the virus. “That would be great,” he said.
“That seems excellent to me. What seems wrong to me is not wearing masks. Given the situation we are going through, it is obvious that when you are forced to go out, in extreme cases, you have to protect yourself, which is necessary,” Garrido insisted.
Unlike other countries more affected by the virus, Morocco anticipated events and imposed measures to stem the spread of the pandemic, he stressed.
For the Spanish coach, “Moroccans have become aware that they must stay at home except for justified reasons and the great advantage (…) is that measures were taken when there were very few cases in Morocco.”
